FDIC deposit insurance is temporarily increased from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor through December 31, 2013.
Savings Bank of Maine is participating in the FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2010, all non-interest bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program (TAGP) is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.
Savings Bank of Maine interest-bearing transactions accounts are not eligible for TAGP coverage with one exception, IOLTAs. The FDIC defines Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTAs) as a non-interest bearing transaction account for purposes of the Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Therefore, Savings Bank of Maine IOLTA accounts are eligible for the coverage provided by TAGP.
